Zutto Tomodachi. (Fic) Ch. 3
Chapter 3
We all went back home after the trip to Kanakazu. I walked home with Taguchi. "Bai bai [Bye-bye]," I waved at him as I entered my house. "Tadaima [I'm back]," I shouted into the apartment.
"Okairii [Welcome back]," my dad replied like always. "Dinner is almost ready, are you going to eat?"
I looked at the dinner table and realized it was curry. Curry again? "No," I answered.
"Okay," he replied sadly and took my share and returned it to the pot.
I walked into my room and pulled my phone out. I flipped it open and scrolled down the calls list. Mokoto-chan... I kept the highlight on her name until I finally decided to call her. I pressed the call button and quickly placed the phone on my ear.
Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring.
Finally, there was an answer. "Moshi moshi [Hello]?" her beautiful voice said.
Upon hearing her voice I quickly jumped up and sat on my knees, the proper way of sitting. I felt as though if I were to sit like this, I might get a better chance with her. "Moshi moshi [Hello]?" I replied.
"Dare desu ka [Who are you]?" she asked.
"Ah...Kamenashi Kazuya desu [Ah...I'm Kamenashi Kazuya]," I answered nervously.
"Eh? Dare [Who]?" she repeated.
"From this afternoon. Earlier in the day. Your friend borrowed my phone to call you. We met in Kanakazu," I reminded her with much detail.
"Ah," she finally said, realizing who I was. "You're that guy with the cute chain on the phone."
"Hai [Yeah]," I confirmed excited. "Ore desu [That's me]."
"Sou, sou [Yeah, yeah]. Where did you get it?"
"The chain?"
"Yeah."
"My father is the host of a radio station. He gives it out to all his listeners," I answered.
"Hontou ni [Really]?" she asked astonished.
"Hai," I answered embarrassed. I knew the only reason why she was shocked was because she probably thought my dad was some famous person with a sense of humor. Too bad she doesn't know the truth.
"Can I have one?"
"Eh?" I said shocked. I wasn't expecting her to want one.
"The key chain. Can I have one?" she repeated.
I thought about it, and then answered, "H-hai... [Y-yeah...]"
"Iin desu ka [Is it okay]?" she asked happily.
I was still surprised of her desire for wanting my dad's stupid key chain. But then again, all of my friends had the same exact key chain. Call it fate? "Iin desu [It's okay]," I answered.
"Ah~ Yokata," she expressed rather dramatically.
"Where should we meet?"
"Hmm...let's meet at the same place where we met today," she told me. "Is that okay for you?"
"The place where we met before?" I thought about it. "Yeah, that'll be good. Wakata [I understand]."
"Nn. Jaa ashita, ne [Mhm. So tomorrow, right]?"
"Nn. Ashita [Mhm. Tomorrow]."
"Arigatou," she thanked cutely. "Bai bai."
"Bai bai," I said and she hung up. I closed my phone and dropped it next to my legs. Then I got out of the proper position and stood. "Yatta [I did it]~" I shouted from the top of my lungs. "Yatta! Yatta! Yatta!!" I jumped all over my bed and then ran outside to look for my dad. He was in the kitchen washing the dishes. "Otou-san [Father]," I called out.
"Otou-san [Father]?" my dad said shocked. I usually call him oyaji [old man], I only call him otou-san if I want something. And right now I did. "Nani [What]?" he asked a little worried.
"Do you still have those key chains you gave out to your listeners?" I asked.
"You mean the blue chibi monkey?"
"Yeah. But do you have one for girls?"
"Girls?" he repeated shocked.
"Yeah," I answered carelessly.
"Arimasu [I do]," he answered and walked into the room where he does his radio station. I followed him into the room and waited as he pulled a brown box out of the shelf. He dug through it and pulled out a key chain. It was the same as mine except it was a pink monkey wearing a fluffy dress. "Hai," he said and placed it in my hand.
"Kawaii [Cute]," I told him as I looked at it. "Arigatou, otou-san [Thanks, Father]."
I walked out of the room, but my dad called me out again. "Chotto matte kudasai [Please wait a minute]."
I stopped in my tracks and turned around. "Nani [What]?"
"Who are you going to give that key chain to?" he asked curiously.
"Betsuni," I lied.
"Nnn...sou ka [Mmm...is that so]?" he said not buying my lie. I nodded. "Make sure you give it to someone special. That's the only one in this whole world."
"Hontou [Really]?" I asked impressed.
"Hontou da [It's true]," he answered proudly.
"Arigatou [Thanks]," I told him again.
"Anytime."
I walked into my room and held the key chain I was going to give to Mokoto tomorrow in the air. It twirled around, making the monkey look as if she was dancing. "Yosh [Alright]." I grabbed the pendent into my hand and smiled. "Ikizou [Here I go]!"
