Living with KAT-TUN. Ch. 8

Chapter 8

If Jin hadn't agreed to Koki's suggestion, then maybe I wouldn't have to be freaking out right now. After the discussion about the MC part of the concert, we all practiced the part of when they would "randomly" select me. I would be standing in the front row, leaning on the railing. This wasn't new, it had already been decided that I would be standing in the front.

The only new part was when Maru would say, "Why don't we call one of the audience members up here?" When he said that, then he would choose me and I would go up there. I still had no idea what these guys were planning though. I mean, what am I going to say? I'm not that interesting of a person.

"Erika-chan," Maru called from the stage.

I was standing in the front row. "Hai?" I answered.

"Come up. I've already said it." He waved his hand at me as a sign to come up.

"Ah, gomen [sorry]." I spaced out from thinking too much about what to say. How embarrassing. I followed one of the staff members to the back of the stage, and then walked up these mini stairs onto the stage.

"Sou [Yeah]. Just like that," Junno complimented.

I walked to the middle of the stage, surrounded by the group members. "Just stand here, and we'll ask you some questions and stuff," Koki informed me.

"Like what?" I asked.

"Saa ne...[I don't know...]" he answered unsure.

"We'll probably wing it," Maru jumped in.

"But if you wing it, then I won't know what to say," I nervously answered.

"Then you'll be speechless, faint, and embarrass yourself in front of thousands of people," Jin coldly explained.

I looked at him with fierce eyes. "Arigatou, Akanishi-san," I thanked sarcastically.

"Do itashi mashite [You're welcome]," he said bowing.

I am so tired of his sarcasm! "Daijoubu, Erika-chan," Kame assured me.

"Eh?" I said confused.

"If you're in a pinch then we'll help you out," he told me.

"Hontou [Really]?"

"Hontou [Really]."

"We'll all help you," Ueda said and then looked at Jin, "ne [right]?"

Jin looked at Ueda with cold eyes, then looked at Kame with even colder ones. "Whatever." He chuckled and looked away from us all.

After practicing the MC part and stuff, we all went home. Once again, I isolated myself from everyone and went to my room to nap. "Ah...this feels so good~" I whispered as I rolled all over the bed. Suddenly, my phone began to rang. "Eh?" I opened the drawer next to me and took my phone out. The caller was unknown. I answered the phone, "Moshi moshi [Hello]?"

"Moshi moshi? Hanashimi-san?" a familiar voice answered.

"Eh? Yuki-san?" I said shocked. "How did you get my number?"

"Johnny-san's niece gave it to me."

"Ah, that girl." I completely forgot about her. I still don't know her name, age, or location.

"Anyways," she said coming back to the main topic, "did you finish that 100 Questions thing for the show tomorrow?"

"Eh?" I completely forgot about that too. "Ashita [Tomorrow]?"

"Today's Tuesday. The show airs every Wednesday," she reminded.

"Eh? I thought today was Monday." I counted the days that had passed by from when I arrived. I got on the plane on Friday. But I got off the plane here in Japan 23 hours later. But because of the time difference, Japan is one day ahead. Making the day I arrived here...Sunday. Three days have passed since my arrival...making today Tuesday? "Hontou da [It's true]!" I shouted astonished.

"You haven't gotten used to the day system here in Japan compared to America's, yet?" Yuki sounded disappointed.

"Gomen [Sorry]." I bowed my head as if she could see.

"Ii yo [It's okay]. I need it by today though. Before midnight. I'll come over the house at around 11:30. Have it done by then. And don't worry about responding in English. We have a translator." She sounded like she was in a rush. As if my mistake destroyed her plans for the day. Oh crap. "I have to go. Jaa [Bye]."

She hung up, and I closed my phone. "Yabe...wasurechata [Oh crap...I forgot]." I held onto my phone with both hands and sighed. "Yosh [Alright]. I'll do it right now." I jumped off the bed and opened my closet. Taking out my suitcase, I opened it and took the manila folder Yuki gave to me a few days ago. I opened it and took the survey out. "Yosh [Alright]!" I ran to my desk and opened the survey. "Yabai [Oh crap]," I mummbled in disbelif. The whole survey was in...kanji! Ah, yabe! I can't read kanji at all! How am I going to complete it?

At that moment, someone arrived at my door. "Erika-chan," he said.

I turned my head to discover it was Kame. "Kamenashi-san."

"Doushita no [What's wrong]?" He walked into my room and sat on my bed. "You look stressed."

"Iya. Tada...[No. It's just...]." I looked away from him because I didn't want to admit that I forgot all about the survey for their show. The main point of the whole thing.

"Hontou [Really]?" He stood up and looked over my shoulder. "Kore [This]." He grabbed the survey and read it. "Isn't this the survey for the show tomorrow?"

"Gomen," I apologized and bowed.

"Why are you apologizing?" he asked confused.

"Datte...[I mean...]" I tilted my head and bit my lower lip.

"Daijoubu [It's alright]."

"Eh? Nani ga [What is]?"

"You haven't done it, right? And you can't read kanji, so without the help of someone who can read kanji you'll never finish it." He raised the survey to show me it. "Ore [Me]." He pointed at himself. "I'll help you."

"Hontou ni [Really]?" I asked shocked. I would've thought he was too busy with something else.

"Hontou ni [Really]." He took a peice of paper out of the drawer next to him and placed it on the desk in front of me. "I'll ask the questions and you'll write the answers here." He passed me a pencil. "Wakata [Understand]?"

"Mhm. Wakata [I understand]."

"Jaa...hajimaru [Then...let's start]." He flipped the first page of the packet and began to read. "When were you born?"

"1988 25 December," I answered as I wrote down the date.

"Kurimasu [Christmas]?"

"Hai. Bikkuri shita [Yeah. Are you shocked]?" I asked looking at him.

"Chotto, ne [Just a little]?"

"Hai, mondai [Okay, question]?"

We went through this process 100 times. If something interesting came up, I'd elaborate on it. It was like we were having our own little 100 Questions thing in my room. It was really fun and we were able to finsih before Yuki-san arrived. "Owari [The end]," Kame said as he closed the packet.

"Ah~ Yatto [Ah~ Finally]." I dropped my pencil and leaned back in the chair.

Kame stood up and looked over my shoulder to read my answers. "You write in all caps?" he asked curiously.

"Ah, hai. It was a habit I caught from my dad. He writes like this too," I told him.

"Mmm. Interesting," he said sarcastically.

"Eh? Nani [What]?"

"Iya. Nan de mou nai [No. It's nothing]."

"Eh~? Usosiki [Liar]," I called him playing around.

"Iya, hontou da. Nan de mou nai [No, it's true. It's nothing]," he said leaving my room slowly.

"Chotto [Hole on]," I called out. He continued to walk away, so I ran up to him and caught him by the shoulder. "Tell me," I demanded like a little child.

"I-ya-da [No way]," he said slowly.

"Eh? Nande [Eh? Why not]?"

"I-ya-da," he repeated.

At that moment the doorbell rang. "It might be Yuki-san," I told him.

"Ikou [Let's go]," he said and we both ran down the stairs. He opened the door and Yuki-san appeared. "Domo [Hello]," he greeted and bowed.

"Domo [Hello]," I followed.

"The survey?" she asked getting straight to buisness.

"Hai [Here]," Kame said handing her the manila folder.

"I forgot to tell you to ask for help from one of the members to read the kanji," Yuki said as she loked at me. "Gomen," she apologized and bowed.

"Iya, daijoubu [No, it's okay]," I told her. "Kamenashi-san was willing to help me. We finished it just in time. It's my fault that I hadn't completed it before the last minute." I bowed. "Gomen."

"Ii yo [It's okay]. All that matters is that you completed it in time. Kamenashi-san, arigatou [Kamenashi, thanks]." She bowed at both of us and Kame bowed as well. "Well, I have to get going. Tomorrow is your day off. You just have to be at the studio by 5:00. We'll start filming at around 6:00."

"Ryokai [Roger]," Kame replied saluting her.

"Oyasumi [Good night]," she said before leaving.

"Oyasumi," both Kame and I said at the same time.

"Gomen, ne?" I apologized to Kame.

"For what?" he asked.

"For having you help me with such a troublesome task," I lowered my head, "gomen."

"Iya, tanoshikata [No, I had fun]," he answered unexpectadly.

"Eh?" I asked confused and raised my head to look at him.

"Whenever I'm with Erika-chan, I always have fun," he answered smiling.

"Eh?"

He suddenly leaned closer to my face. The closer he got, the faster my heart was beating and the more numb I became. He closed his eyes, but I kept mines open. With only centimeters between our lips, I was beginning to feel extremely nervous. "Oyasumi," he whispered seductively and walked away.

EH?! My body was still numb. My eyes were wide open, but my legs gave in. I fell to floor on my knees in utter shock. What just happened right now? Did Kame almost kiss me? I turned my head to look at the stairs Kame just walked up. NAN DA SORE [What was that]?!
